DASH Samurai Cat Back Exhaust

At DASH OffRoad we have had the luxury of fitting many types of exhausts to Y62 Patrols within our 4x4 DNA workshop and listening to how different setups sound. We challenged ourselves to design the best exhaust we could come up with, regardless of cost. In our plan, we chose to use premium materials, and thicker flanges (as we know they can warp in supercharged applications.) Our goal was to achieve the sound of a VK56 with headers, but without actually bolting on headers, if you know what I mean.

After numerous experiments, we have chose an "X" pipe positioned before the centre muffler. This design allows the gases from the left and right banks of the V8 engine to interact, hence eliminating the negative "thong slap" noise that is discussed on forums. The muffler features twin 3" inlets, so it makes sense to have the same twin 3" outlets. This ensures there is an equal speed of gasses entering and exiting the box, preventing unnecessary heat and less thermal stress on the material. 

We chose to utilize 441 stainless steel, a material known for minimal stress from heat cycling, and added chrome for a premium look that will endure for years. All fixings are premium quality, and use the highest quality graphite gaskets with fire rings and cone nuts to minimise the bolts coming loose.
